Buck attended the Merchant Taylors’ School, Guildhall School of Music, Royal College of Music, and Worcester College, Oxford (BA 1891, MA 1894, MusD 1897). He served as Music Master of Rugby School (1894); organist at Wells Cathedral (1896); Music Master, Harrow School (1901-27); Professor of Music, Dublin University (1910-20); and Professor of Music, London University (1925-30). Knighted in 1937, his works include:
