Biography

Brown was the first son of James Bald­win Brown the el­der (1785–1843), a bar­ris­ter and wri­ter.

In 1839, he was one of the first gra­du­ates of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Lon­don. He was a min­is­ter in Der­by (1843); at Clay­lands Chapel, Clap­ham Road (1846), Lon­don; and at Brix­ton In­de­pen­dent Cha­pel (lat­er con­vert­ed to an Ang­lican church), Brix­ton Road, Lond­on, from 1870 un­til his death.
