Brooks married Or­ah M. Grant in 1908 in Che­nan­go County, New York. They were living in Nor­wich, New York in 1910, but moved to Bur­bank, Cal­i­for­nia, by 1920.

In 1940, he and his second wife, Lau­ra, were living in Los An­ge­les.
