Brooks was educated at King Edward’s School, Birmingham, and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge (BA 1st class Class, Tripos, 1893; D 1895; P 1896). He served as Curate of St. Augustine’s, Bermondsey (1895-1896); of St. Peter’s, Edinburgh (1898), St. John’s Edinburgh (1905); Priest-in-charge of St. Matthew’s, Edinburgh (1909); Rector of St. Andrew’s, Edinburgh (1910); and Priest-in-charge, Balerno (1926).
