Brink was educated at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan; the University of Michigan; and Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois (PhD, music theory). She taught music at Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, Illinois (1967-74), and the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (1974-83). She then worked as a music and liturgy editor, and also served as organist and choir director at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church (CRC), Berwyn, Illinois (1967-71); Orland Park, Illinois, CRC (1972-74); Hessel Park CRC, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois (1975-83); and Eastern Avenue CRC, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
