Christopher was the son of Charles Hud­son and Bath­she­ba Whit­tak­er Booth.

He emigrated to Amer­i­ca in 1895, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1905. He lived in New York City, worked with the Vic­tor Talking Machine Company (1905), played for Red Seal artists, and was organist and choirmaster at Church of the Advent (1909–39). He was also a conductor and composer, with works including:
