Biography

Carl was the son of car­pen­ter Nils Pet­ter Jons­son Bo­berg and Hed­vig Gus­ta­va Jons­dot­ter. He married twice, to An­na Ma­ria Elis­abet Pe­tters­son (Ja­nu­ary 5, 1884) and Sel­ma Char­lot­ta Elis­abet Ydrén (No­vem­ber 23, 1915).

He start­ed out as a sail­or, then came to Christ at age 19 and at­tend­ed a Bi­ble school in Kris­ti­ne­hamn.

He served as a lay preach­er for two years, ed­it­ed the week­ly San­ning­svit­tnet (Wit­ness of the Truth) (1890–1916), and served in the Swed­ish par­lia­ment (1912–31)

In 1916, he re­ceived the Lit­ter­is et Ar­ti­bus me­dal for his work in li­ter­ature. He be­came a Knight of the Or­der of Va­sa in 1917, and of the Or­der of the Po­lar Star in 1923.

Works

Boberg wrote sev­er­al vol­umes of po­et­ry and ma­ny hymns. He al­so helped com­pile the first two hym­nals of the Swed­ish Co­ve­nant church.
