Traveling Bachelor of Cam­bridge University (BA 1850, MA 1860), Blunt took Holy Orders in 1851.

From 1856–60, he was Incumbent of Crew Green, Che­shire. In 1860, he became Rector of St. Luke’s, Chel­sea. He wrote his hymns for festivals at St. Luke’s.
