Biography

Binns’ name ap­peared in mu­sic-re­lat­ed ad­ver­tis­ing as ear­ly as 1874. The March 1, 1890, is­sue of The Mu­sic­al Times des­crib­ed him as the Prin­ci­pal Ten­or of the Ha­li­fax [York­shire] Par­ish Church.

His tune In­vi­ta­tion ap­peared in The Pri­mi­tive Me­tho­dist Hym­nal Sup­ple­ment with Tunes, ed­it­ed by George Booth (Lon­don: Primitive Me­tho­dist Pub­lish­ing House, 1912), num­ber 89.
