In 1917, Best pub­lished the ar­ti­cle Pa­tri­o­tic Mu­sic in the Grades in the Train­ing School Quar­ter­ly (vol­ume 4, num­ber 3, Oct-Nov-Dec 1917). Ap­par­ent­ly, this was a pub­li­ca­tion of the East Car­o­lina Teach­ers Train­ing School in Green­ville, North Carolina. It seems like­ly Best was a North Car­o­li­na na­tive; she may have died as late as 1948.
