Buried: As­sist­ens Ce­me­te­ry, Co­pen­ha­gen, Den­mark. Some hym­nals spell his name Berg­gren, but his tomb­stone shows it as Berg­green.

Biography

Andreas was the son of Carl Pe­ter Berg­green and Jo­ha­nne Do­ro­thea Lynge, and hus­band of Do­ro­thea Fre­der­ik­ke Wet­ter­gren (mar­ried March 7, 1828, Vor Frue Parish, Co­pen­ha­gen, Den­mark).

He stu­died law, but ev­en­tu­al­ly pur­sued a ca­reer in mu­sic, stu­dy­ing un­der Chris­to­pher Weyse. In 1838, he be­came the or­gan­ist at Tri­ni­ta­tis Kir­ke in Co­pen­ha­gen.

In 1843, he was teach­ing sing­ing at the Me­tro­po­li­tan­skol­en, and in 1859, he be­came a song in­spec­tor.
