Biography

Bennett stu­died at the Roy­al Aca­de­my of Mu­sic un­der George Mac­far­ren and Charles Steg­gall; in Ber­lin under H. Barth (pi­ano) and F. Kiel (com­po­si­tion); and in Mu­nich (1885–87) un­der H. Buss­mey­er (pi­ano) and Jo­sef Rhein­ber­ger (com­po­si­tion).

He served as or­gan­ist at St. John’s Church, Pim­li­co, Lon­don; and as or­gan­ist and Mas­ter of the Chor­is­ters at Lin­coln Ca­thed­ral (1895–1930).
