Currently, our on­ly in­for­data on Bell is that he com­posed two tunes for The Eng­lish Hymn­al of 1906. In the ack­now­ledge­ments sec­tion of that hymn­al, his ti­tle is giv­en as Mr., pre­sum­a­bly in­di­cat­ing he was a se­cu­lar com­pos­er ra­ther than a cler­ic.
