Henry was the son of Lyman Beecher and Roxana Ward Foote, brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Charles Beecher, and husband of Eunice White Bullard (married 1837).
His main contribution to hymnology was the Plymouth Collection of Hymns and Tunes (New York: A. S. [Alfred Smith] Barnes, 1855). It is named after Plymouth Church, in Brooklyn, New York, where he was pastor.
