We have little data on Beers. Her only known song appeared in William Bradbury’s 1864 Golden Censer.
We speculate she might be Martha Hart Beers (1832–1909), buried in Woodland Cemetery, Bronx New York. Her husband was Henry Newell Beers, and a
Mrs. Henry N. Beers was president of the New York Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church as of 1908 (Elizabeth Daily Journal, Elizabeth, New Jersey: January 8, 1898), page 1, column 5. The song Jesus Died for Me was written for a Presbyterian church in New York City.
