Biography

Becker at­tend­ed Lords­town Aca­de­my; gra­du­at­ed from Ca­pi­tal Uni­ver­si­ty, Co­lum­bus, Ohio, in 1864; and fin­ished his theo­lo­gic­al stu­dies at Ca­pi­tal Uni­ver­si­ty in 1866.

He was or­dained by the Joint Sy­nod of Ohio in June, 1866, and served church­es in St. Pa­ris, Ohio (1866–67); Thorn­ville, Ohio (1867–77); and at St. Mark’s, De­la­ware, Ohio (1877–84).

He ed­it­ed the Lu­ther­an Child’s Pa­per for near­ly 10 years, con­trib­ut­ed ar­ti­cles to the Lu­ther­an Stand­ard, and wrote ma­ny po­ems and hymns.
