Biography

Battishill was the hus­band of ac­tress Eliz­abeth Da­vies (mar­ried De­cem­ber 19, 1765).

A com­pos­er, key­board play­er, and con­cert te­nor, he be­gan his ca­reer writ­ing the­ater mu­sic, but lat­er de­vot­ed him­self to work­ing as an or­gan­ist and com­pos­er for the Church of Eng­land.
