Biography

Henry was the son of Hart­vig Ax­el Bag­ger and Ag­nes Hor­ne­man, and hus­band of Mar­ga­ret Finck.

He was a gra­du­ate of Muhl­en­berg Col­lege, Al­len­town, Penn­syl­van­ia (1915), and the Lu­ther­an Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia (1919).

He al­so stu­died at Co­lum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty, New York City, and the Uni­ver­si­ty of Penn­syl­van­ia (MA 1919).

He was or­dained in 1919, and served at St. Paul Church, Mor­gan­town, West Virg­in­ia (1919–21), and the First Eng­lish Church, But­ler, Penn­syl­van­ia (1921–30).

He then served two terms as pre­si­dent of the Pitts­burgh Sy­nod; pas­tor of Ho­ly Tri­ni­ty Church, Lan­cas­ter, Penn­syl­van­ia (1940–52); and pre­si­dent of the Lu­ther­an Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, Phi­la­del­phia.

He re­tired in 1952.
