Baptized: 1937, Sher­man, Tex­as, by Bur­ton Coff­man.

Died: Oc­to­ber 9, 1981, Ta­li­hi­na, Ok­la­ho­ma.

Buried: Old Ta­li­hi­na Ce­me­te­ry, Ta­li­hi­na, Ok­laho­ma.

Biography

Wilkin was the son of Col­ton and Jo­se­phine Bacon, and hus­band of Mary Sue Pant­er. Of Choc­taw In­di­an he­ri­tage, he is some­times con­fused with Os­age Chief Ba­con Rind.

He sang ba­ri­tone in the Lone Star Quar­tet, a Gos­pel group that per­formed on ra­dio sta­tion KWFT in Wi­chi­ta Falls, Tex­as, and lat­er on sta­tion WPTF in Ral­eigh, North Ca­ro­li­na.

By 1945, Ba­con had moved in­to min­is­try, preach­ing in Ar­ling­ton, Tex­as; Fort Smith, Ar­kan­sas; Cor­si­ca­na and Dal­las, Tex­as; and Dun­can and Ta­li­hi­na, Ok­la­ho­ma.
