Biography

Atkinson served as a cho­ris­ter at Nor­wich Ca­thed­ral, stu­dy­ing un­der Ze­cha­ri­ah Buck (or­gan­ist and choir mas­ter, 1828–77).

For a while, he served as as­sist­ant or­gan­ist at the ca­thed­ral.

He gra­du­at­ed from Cam­bridge Uni­ver­si­ty (MusB 1867), and was or­gan­ist and choir­mas­ter at St. Luke’s Church in Man­ning­ham, Brad­ford, York­shire; Nor­wich Ca­thed­ral (1881–85); and St. Ma­ry’s Par­ish Church in Lew­is­ham, Lon­don (1866).
