Ole was the son of Tollef Arneson and Margrete Olson (Rudringen) Sanden.
He was principal of the public school at Spring Grove, Minnesota (1876–79), then taught in Hatton, North Dakota.
Later, he managed of the book department of Skandinaven in Chicago, Illinois.
He is remembered as the translator of many Norwegian hymns and poems.
