Ole’s parents were Tollef Arneson and Margrete Olson (Rudringen) Sanden. He served as principal of the public school at Spring Grove, Minnesota (1876–79), then taught in Hatton, North Dakota. Later, he became manager of the book department of Skandinaven, Chicago, Illinois. He is remembered as the translator of many Norwegian hymns and poems.
