Died: De­cem­ber 13, 1683, Qued­lin­burg, Ger­ma­ny.

Biography

Anna was the daugh­ter of Land­grave Ge­org II of Hess­en-Darm­stadt.

She was care­ful­ly edu­cat­ed, and in 1657 she was elect­ed Pröbst­in of the Lu­ther­an Fürst­en-Töch­ter-Stift at Qued­lin­burg. She be­came Ab­bess there in 1680.

Her hymns, con­tem­pla­tions on the un­ion of the soul with Christ, in the spi­rit of the Can­ti­cles, most­ly ap­peared in her de­vo­tion­al work.
