Biography

Allen worked in the Sal­va­tion Ar­my (SA) from around 1882–99. He was band­mas­ter of the New Bromp­ton Corps for about seven years, and lat­er a junior sol­diers’ ser­geant-mavjor.

Proficient in play­ing ma­ny in­stru­ments, he would oft­en in­tro­duce new songs as part of his per­son­al tes­ti­mo­ny.

After leav­ing the SA, he served in mis­sion work with the young, and was as­so­ci­at­ed with the Chris­tian Sci­en­tist de­no­mi­na­tion when he was old­er.
