Strattner was Kapellmeister at the court of Baden-Durlach, at the Barfüsserkirche in Frankfurt am Main. In 1694 he became vice-Kapellmeister in Weimar.
He is perhaps best remembered for compiling the fifth edition of Joachim Neander’s Collected Hymns in 1691.
